DIA DE LA COMUNIDAD
Bringing Families into the Sanctuary

On May 31, 2025, we co-hosted Día De La Comunidad alongside our NOAA partners at the Sanctuary Exploration Center in Santa Cruz — a day of cultural celebration and connection designed for Spanish-speaking families from Watsonville and Salinas.

Many of these families had children who participated in our marine education field trips during the school year. This event gave parents, siblings, and neighbors the chance to experience the same wonder at the Sanctuary Exploration Center, and included mariachi performances, folklórico dancing, interactive exhibits, crafts, and more.

By expanding our reach beyond students to their families, we help build lasting connections to the sanctuary and inspire future stewards from every background.
